Sweet Nothings

Meant as an examination of passage and the transition from one station in life to the next, this series of eight drawings is firmly rooted within Eastern tradition, specifically the minimal Japanese aesthetic of Kanso, simplicity, clarity, or the elimination of all unnecessary forces. Any one individual work is pure essence, onto and of itself. Every action, every stroke is apparent to the utmost degree. These drawings strive to limit their own being as a measure to amplify its presence, pushing against the boundaries of simultaneously saying nothing and leaving nothing unsaid.

This series was created specifically for installation in Gunnison Memorial Chapel in Canton, New York. Photographs of the installed work can be found here.
